QuickBooks & Accounting Data Recovery — Company Files & Servers

A QuickBooks company file that will not open, a server that died with the books on it, or an accountant's external drive that stopped mounting — accounting data has its own failure modes and its own urgency. Do not let QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery or a file-repair tool rewrite the only copy first.

    • Corrupt or unopenable QBW company files
    • Servers and workstations that hosted the books
    • QuickBooks, Sage, Drake, Lacerte and other suites
    • Deleted or overwritten company files
    • Failed external drives used for accounting backups
    • $50 same-day evaluation, no recovery fee if no data

Stop before the repair tools run

QuickBooks' built-in file doctor and third-party repair utilities write to the company file. On a healthy drive with a lightly damaged file that is fine. On a failing drive — the one that caused the corruption in the first place — each repair pass risks the rest of the data. The right order is: image the drive read-only, recover the files from the image, then repair the company file on the recovered copy.

A company file is a database, not a document

A QBW file is a running database with transactions, links, and a transaction log. Recovering 'a file called Company.QBW' is not enough if the TLG log or a networked ND configuration is missing or the file was mid-write when the server died. We recover the whole data folder — company files, logs, backup QBB files, and portable company files — so your accountant can open the newest consistent version.

    Servers and hosted accounting

If the file lives on a server or NAS, the failure is usually there, not in QuickBooks. Degraded RAID, a failed NAS volume, or a crashed Windows server all put the books at risk at once. Power the device down instead of rebuilding, and we will image the member drives and reconstruct the storage virtually. Active ransomware or malware incidents are handled separately — we route those to Virus Pros for containment before any recovery work.

    Deadlines: taxes, payroll, audits

Accounting data almost always has a clock on it. Tell us the deadline at intake — payroll Friday, filing extension, an audit request — and we sequence the recovery around it. Proofs of the specific company files come back to you for confirmation before final delivery, so you know the right period opens before the job closes.

    What the evaluation covers

For $50, same day: where the data actually lives, the health of the media, which company-file version is newest and intact, and a fixed quote before recovery work begins. Your original media is returned at the end, recovered files go back on the medium you choose, and there is no recovery fee if nothing usable is recovered.

    Frequently Asked Questions

QuickBooks says my company file is damaged. What should I do?

Stop. Do not run repair tools on the only copy, especially if the drive or server that hosts it is acting up. Image first, repair second.

Can you recover a deleted QuickBooks company file?

Often yes, if the drive has not been heavily used since the deletion. Stop writing to the drive and bring it in promptly.

The server hosting QuickBooks died. Can you get the books back?

Usually. We image the server drives and reconstruct the storage, then recover the full QuickBooks data folder including logs and backups.

Do you also recover Sage, Drake, or Lacerte data?

Yes. Any accounting suite's data folder can be recovered the same way — the files differ, the process does not.

How much does accounting data recovery cost?

A flat $50 same-day evaluation. Single-drive cases commonly run $300-$795; server and RAID cases are quoted after evaluation.
